How do I even start?

I have always asked myself this question, along with many others, the numerous times I consider content creation. As a good overthinker, my mind was too busy with what I could do and how to add something to the overwhelming amount of online information. It needed to be flawless to be worth people's time, especially if I was discussing something more technical, like filmmaking.

However, I realized I would never have the experience my perfectionist brain needs to feel confident. No amount of study or expertise would be enough to do the trick. So, I decided to have a new approach. Instead of wanting to know it all before sharing it with the world, I will share my journey as a learner trying to navigate the world of Hollywood.

Because of that, I want to introduce myself, tell you where I am coming from, and explain how I plan to do this so you can decide if you want to join me on this journey. So, let's go!

My name is Beatriz Santamaria Pinha. I'm a Brazilian writer and director based in Los Angeles. My biggest project so far was writing and directing Ed Sheeran's music video That's On Me after winning a competition with over 4000 contestants. The music video was featured in over 200 media outlets, including Rolling Stones, Billboard, ABC, Yahoo, and Globo. It has also been selected for eight film festivals, winning Best Music Video at the Worldwide Women Film Festival this year.

Another music video you can check out is Blame My Memory by an amazing upcoming Brazilian artist, Valenttina Dias. We are starting to submit it to festivals right now, and I will have news of festival screenings soon!

As for short films, I have two releasing soon, including my first-ever 100% Brazilian production, "The Missing Ingredient," and my directorial debut, "Waiting Room." Fingers crossed, I will discuss them and their festival run in the next couple of months.

Also, I was a Marvel Electric and Lighting Intern for their upcoming Wonder Man show. I worked with some people you know as a teleprompter operator.

Even though I'm at the beginning of my career, I have been lucky and blessed with some incredible, mind-blowing opportunities. I have worked and continue to work on sets of all sizes and have seen firsthand how some really cool effects and scenes are made.

With the sum of what I already know, I want to start diving deeper into some movies I like, discovering their secrets, learning more about the director's vision, and sharing it with you. I also want to do some creativity exercises, like pitching music videos for songs I like.

Similarly, I want to share more about my daily life as a Brazilian woman in the middle of the Hollywood film industry and some backstage action on my future projects.

With most videos posted, I will also add a little post here on my website with more information about what I am talking about, my references, and how to search more about the topic yourself. Hopefully, this way, I can spread the knowledge I have gathered and retain some of it myself. Besides, putting this on the internet will put extra pressure, so I stop procrastinating doing things!

If I have convinced you to follow me through this journey, please take everything with a grain of salt. Everyone's interpretation of art is different, and the same is true for how we view the industry and set life.

Well, with all those disclaimers, I'm excited to start sharing some of this with you! For the next week, I'm going to the Poppy Jasper Film Festival. I will attend the That's On Me screening for a few days! So, be on the lookout for some content about that!

On a mean note, I would love for you to tell me what you want to know more about in the film industry and if there is some scene of a movie you would like to know more about!

See you soon!
